Looking Towards Marmaris
Turkey is still in partial lock-down. That means daily curfews and (mostly) full closure on Sunday. There are a couple of exceptions. For example, the rules don’t apply to tourists (we respect them in any event) and businesses can apply for exemptions if their circumstances warrant. We love how quiet it is in and around the Marina on Sundays. The Marina is located in a National Park, in a dip between two big hills. We went for a long walk last Sunday.

It was rainy for most of the week. That gave us a chance to do a few more things on board. Someone was here to inspect the steering system. They cleaned and greased all of the joints. We also had someone on board to assist with sorting out the various electronics; getting them properly set up so the various devices “talk” to each other.
One job we have been working at since returning is a stubborn clogged drain in one of the aft lazarettes. Roger finally convinced me to “go into the basement” and check the plumbing routing and connections.

Rainy days give us the chance to continue going through things. I was reminded this week of the extent of the record keeping by the original owner. The build is well-documented and DFN is well stocked with equipment and spare parts. We are still discovering things we didn’t know we had. Putting some things to use and discarding a few things that were broken and just taking up valuable space.

We are still waiting for the winch parts. They are currently held hostage at Turkish Customs in Istanbul. So close; but, so far. We have managed to find enough parts so that the two primary winches are operational. But for the lock-down, we would have gone for a trial sail today; perhaps in the coming days. Instead we went for another long walk. We covered one side of the Marina, it was an hour walk. This place is huge! Stopped to check the progress on Nova Vida and Delawana, our sister yachts from NS, on our route.
