Kale Koy was lovely; but, we were more than ready to leave after three days of lockdown. We were lucky the weather cooperated because it would not have been a good anchorage if we had any kind of wind. On Monday we headed back to Kas. We were looking forward to a land day to provision and take care of some laundry. We had planned to stay at the town quay; but, it was quite crowded with local boats and gullets. We diverted to Kas Marina. The marina at Kas is lovely and there are a couple of nice anchorages nearby. The town is about a 10-15 minute walk.

We learned while we were in Kas that Turkey will be locked down for about three weeks starting the evening of April 29th. All movement will be restricted in an attempt to get the COVID numbers under control before the full summer tourist season begins. Turkey does not want to loose another season of visitors. These measures are not supposed to apply to tourists; but, we learned in Kale Koy that the local Coast Guard may not care about the finer points of the lockdown rules. After two days in Kas, we decided to head back to Gocek so we will be in the Mugla Province when lockdown begins. Mugla has posted that they consider live-aboard boats to be homes for the purpose of lockdown. Boats are permitted to move around the province and boaters may go ashore as necessary for provisions, etc.

Roger’s happy face… …”I just saved 50 euros.” He taught himself to make this samson braid eye splice while on route to Gocek.

Nice looking eyesplice. Hope it’s strong too. The 50 Euros might cover some wine.
