Gemiler is a good stopping point between Fethiye Korfezi and additional points to the southeast. In spite of having had challenges at the anchorages here on more than one occasion, it is still one of my favourite stops.

Gemiler is mostly a wild place. It is great for swimming and paddle boarding. There are a couple of small restaurants ashore; but, we have not had occasion to visit them. There is a small island, Gemiler Adasi, that provides protection from the south and mountains on shore to provide protection from the north. The islands has a number of Byzantine ruins.

Gemiler is also a good jumping-off point (haha pun intended) for paragliding at Olu Deniz. You can see the big mountain and often paragliders in the distance to the east.

Some friends may recall me paragliding with our friend Graham a year ago. I think Rog regretted not getting in on that action. This time he organized a paragliding adventure for he and Doug including pick-up at the nearby beach and a drive to the mountain including sightseeing highlights along the way.

Sad that this is our last full day with Doug; he will be heading home tomorrow.
