Our friends on Nova Vida joined us at Bozuk Buku. Bozuk Buku will be one of my favourite spots on this leg of the journey. There was almost no internet; but, the stars at night were specatular. We had dinner again at Sailor’s House. I was starting to feel like family after only two days. The Turks have a knack for doing that.

The second night the goat herders with their dogs rounded up the herd. It was really quite something to watch. We were told the next day was shearing day. I didn’t even know goats were shorn.

Next stop Bozburun. We remembered from sailing on Nova Vida last Fall that Bozburun was a good place to get fuel; so, we headed there to fill up for our first time. In this town, you anchor with tie-up lines to the concrete dock. The concrete wall runs out quite a way and it gets shallow quickly. We scraped our rudder docking here. Something else to add to the repair list. We spent the night and got fuel and provisions. The cats run the waterfront at Bozburun. It was fun watching them while sitting on our deck Thursday evening. Everything and everyone else was pretty quiet.

It was kind of a relief to get away from a town again. We were headed another short distance to Datca. We had good winds for a change. Instead of heading directly to our next stop, we had some fun sailing, tacking and learning the ins and outs of our sails.

Datca is a lovely little town. We stayed at the Yacht Club behind a big breakwater; a place we probably wouldn’t get near during a busy season. We lucked out, there was a Saturday Farmers’ Market. We topped up on fresh fruits and vegtables.

Our last night before heading back to Marmaris was at a lovely little anchorage at Kocabahce called Sailor’s Paradise. Another little gem of a spot.

On May 9, 2021 we headed back to Marmaris to have a little more than a week to get things ready for our departure. We were very fortunate to have good wind and to have our friend Hans H. join us for the 45 nautical mile/5.5 hour sail back. Hans has a FARR 56 and he is very experienced with boats similar to ours. His tips are invaluable and we can’t thank him enough for spending the day with us. With an extra pair of hands we were even able to try our gennaker.

We are back at Marmaris Yacht Marina now. We have just over a week to get things in order for our departure. It is eerily quiet here because of the lockdown. It’s nice though and we have most everything we need to get us through.
