We left DFN in Marmaris, Turkiye in June to return to Nova Scotia for the summer. Our summer boat projects this time included modernizing the 24-volt electrical system, adding a non-skid coating to the top of the pilothouse and renewing the paint, finish and decals on the stern. The electrical upgrade including installing a secondary (redundant) battery charger and updating the panel to replace the old fuses with breakers.  These projects were completed before we launched on August 28.

During our time in Marmaris we were fortunate to meet and become friends with very skilled tradespeople and technicians. All of the significant systems have now been updated. And we have learned a lot from these friends along the way. We have fallen in love with Turkiye–the place and the people (and the food). It was never our plan to stay in one place so long. Alas, the time has come for us to branch out and move further afield. Before heading back across the Aegean to Greece, we spent a few days near Marmaris to test the new systems and make sure everything was in good working order.

We checked out of Turkiye at Marmaris the morning of September 10. We made one last stop in Buzukkale (under the Q-flag) for the night before making our way back to Greece the next morning. We will remember our last stop in Buzukkale. It was early evening when we noticed several large yachts arriving and anchoring in the tiny, sheltered bay, then quite suddenly a wind and lightning storm rolled through. It was quite hairy for a couple of hours, thankfully it passed almost as suddenly as it had arrived.
