We have returned to DFN in Marmaris, Turkiye. I wonder if the locals look at us like we do the robins at home… …when you see them arriving you know Spring is not far behind.

Many of our friends expressed disappointment that we haven’t been staying current with our regular posts. We want to do better, this one is especially for you Kendall Publicover!

We are told the winter was not too severe. We had a winter cover made last season; so, the deck was well protected. There was at least one storm with sustained winds in excess of 110 km per hour. It looks like DFN bumped the dock in that storm. A couple of minor repairs are required.

Provisioning the boat is always a fun adventure. We love the local markets. On Thursday we headed to the Farmers’ Market in Marmaris (aka the “Sunday Market”) for supplies. Even though we have been many times, the selection is still overwhelming. Our purchases included fresh eggs, cheese, the usual fruits/vegetables and a special treat–early strawberries. Then we were off to the butcher for meat and chicken.

The rest of the week was devoted to the usual Spring tasks.

Our sails arrived from UK Sails, Roger “helped” the technician from Marlin with the Yanmar engine service (oil change, new filters and impeller) and Burak and Mustaffa demonstrated their skills at climbing the rigging without ropes.

Next week you should see us cleaning the deck and getting the outside canvas back in place. Stay tuned…

DFN looks awesome! Like us with the cottage, I’m sure it’s always a bit nerve racking when you first get there to check on how she managed through the winter. Glad to hear she seems ok! Love the posts, keep them coming! Xoxo
