The Old Town of Corfu is about twenty-five nautical miles north of Gaios, Paxos, a nice afternoon passage.
Corfu has a rich and varied history. References to the island date back as far as c. 1200BC. The island was colonized by the Corinthians and the Romans. It passed to the Byzantine Empire, the Venetians, the Turks, the French and the British before being ceded to Greece in 1864. The charm of Corfu and its history is undeniable.
We spent our first night at anchor in Ormos Kommero, then we moved to the marina at Gouvia (both are just north of the Old Town). The marina was a good base for exploring, an easy local bus ride into the town of Corfu and lots of restaurants and services on site.
The Old Town is surrounded by a protective stone wall.

The Old Town is a rabbit warren of streets with beautifully restored buildings containing businesses, shops and restaurants. It is all really quite spectacular.

Dolce Farr Niente is well equipped, there is absolutely no need for a girl to go out for fancy drinks in wrinkled clothes.
