We have very good friends that we sail with regularly in Nova Scotia. We love having them join us on DFN to share “the sweetness of doing nothing”. This Fall season, our plan is to journey north as far as Croatia if the weather and time permit. Our friends arrived on Wednesday, September 11. We had a couple of days in Lefkada before beginning the journey north.
The first day started out well enough; but, it wasn’t long before we started to see dark clouds gathering behind and in front of us. It is interesting to watch the weather systems move and develop. We did pass through a bit of a squall at one point.
The first leg of our journey brought us to the island of Paxos. In Paxos we anchored in a very well-protected spot with our stern to the quay in Port Gaios. You can see from the photo below, we had a good-size hill behind us to break any wind. On the town quay the Port Police came to check the ship’s papers and collect the fee.

With all of the wind and rain recently, the streets in the little town of Gaios were underwater in the low-lying areas.

Gaios is a charming port. We had a lovely day of walking around and seeing the shops and restaurants.
