We have spent most of the last two weeks around the island of Lefkada, last week at Nydri, a weekend jaunt to an anchorage at Meganisi Island and this week back to Lefkada at the town of the same name. While at anchor on the weekend, we had a situation with mooring lines, our anchor and the propellor shaft. Thanks to Roger’s quick thinking and hard work, all is well that ends well. Needless to say there are no images of that shitshow.

Moving from Nydri, north to the town of Lefkada meant another trip up the canal. The canal is a bit of a superhighway for sailboats this time of year. Our friends, Heidi and Andrew, will be visiting us in a couple of weeks. While we are between guests, we want to get the turbocharger on the Yanmar engine serviced. It is not an unusual job; but, finding someone we trust to do the service and a place where we are comfortable staying while out of commission has been a bit of work. We have found everything we need at the town of Lefkada; so, we have settled in at the town quay for the week.

This is not as much of a hardship as it might sound. Lefkada is a beautiful town with many nice restaurants and shops. yesterday we enjoyed a leisurely lunch between completing our own list of boat chores.

The Ionian Islands were under Venetian rule from the mid-14th century until the late 18th century. Because of the Venetian influence these islands look very different than the islands we experienced in the Aegean. The Aegean Islands are known for their white buildings with blue windows and doors. Here the buildings are mostly pastel colours often with wrought iron balconies above street level.

We hope to know more about the turbocharger service later today. In the meantime, we are making the best of our current situation.
